Position Objectives
The Technical Business Analyst (TBA) serves as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and the development team. This role is responsible for translating business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements, ensuring alignment between business objectives and system implementation.
The TBA proactively identifies and resolves gaps in requirements, clarifies ambiguities, and collaborates with engineering teams to address technical constraints, ensuring successful delivery of high-quality solutions. Additionally, the role plays a key part in validating solutions through User Acceptance Testing (UAT), enabling successful adoption through end-user training, and supporting ongoing application operations.
Responsibilities
Requirements Management
- Elicit, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into detailed functional and technical specifications.
- Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, and testable.
- Identify and fill gaps in requirements through stakeholder engagement and analysis.
Bridging Business & Technology
- Act as the primary liaison between business units and development teams.
- Ensure developers clearly understand business context, priorities, and expected outcomes.
- Facilitate discussions to resolve misunderstandings or misalignments.
Technical Alignment
- Collaborate with architects and developers to ensure solutions are technically feasible and aligned with system architecture.
- Identify and address technical gaps or risks early in the development lifecycle.
- Assist in defining system behavior, data flows, integrations, and edge cases.
Solution Design Support
- Contribute to high-level solution design and system workflows.
- Create artifacts such as:
- User stories and acceptance criteria
- Process flows and diagrams
- Data models and mapping documents
- Ensure traceability between business requirements and implemented features.
Agile Delivery Support
- Work closely with Product Owners and Scrum teams in Agile environments.
- Participate in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and reviews.
- Help prioritize requirements based on business value and technical constraints.
Quality Assurance, UAT & Validation
- Support QA teams in developing test cases based on requirements.
- Lead or coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities:
- Define UAT scope, scenarios, and acceptance criteria
- Prepare UAT test cases and scripts
- Facilitate UAT sessions with business users
- Track defects and ensure timely resolution
- Validate that delivered solutions meet business needs and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure traceability between requirements and test coverage.
End-User Training & Adoption
- Develop and maintain end-user training materials, guides, and documentation.
- Conduct training sessions, workshops, and system demonstrations.
- Support change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new systems or features.
- Act as a point of contact for user queries during rollout phases.
Application Operations & Support
- Provide functional and first-line support for business applications post-deployment.
- Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot system issues reported by users.
- Work with development and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents and defects.
- Monitor application performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Support release management, including validating deployments and production readiness.
- Maintain documentation of known issues, workarounds, and support procedures.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure proper handover from project delivery to operations and support teams.
Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate progress, risks, issues, and resolutions to stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, requirement sessions, UAT reviews, and solution walkthroughs.
- Ensure alignment across business, product, and engineering teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, or similar roles.
- Proven experience working closely with software development and support teams.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), especially Agile methodologies.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation and system architecture.
- Familiarity with APIs, integrations, databases, and data flows.
- Experience with tools such as:
- JIRA / Azure DevOps
- Confluence or similar documentation tools
- UML, BPMN, or diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart)
- Test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr)
- Basic knowledge of monitoring/logging tools is a plus
